This captivating piece of wearable art features a stunning set of wings, hand cut from mild steel forming two main layers. The top layer has been etched with nitric acid to create a subtle brick wall texture across its surface to which has been applied 24 carat gold leaf using the ancient Korean gilding technique of Keum Boo, fusing the gold to the surface of the steel and creating a stunning dappled gold lustre in a street art stencil style. This gold decorated layer is riveted to its shadow layer of steel by the front sterling silver plate, creating a solid set of wings that is fastened to the leather bondage style strapping that embraces the figure. Sterling silver ring components, nickel plated base metal buckles and rivets join the soft black leather strapping to create a daring piece of Avant Garde Wearable Art.

Taking inspiration from the restriction caused by injury, Emily explored the concept of being constrained by limitations whilst simultaneously gifted freedom of exploration to seek new techniques of creating in order to circumvent the restrictions caused by her injuries.
